Wychavon District Council gave consent for the new crematorium at Fladbury Cross on the A44 by a majority of 12 votes to two, at a planning meeting last Thursday. Once built, the new facility will stage up to 1, funerals per year, averaging around four per day, giving Vale residents more local choice. The crematorium will also ease pressures on crematoria in Worcester and Redditch, which are both significantly busier than the average single chapel crematorium, being 33 per cent and 23 per cent busier respectively.
The lack of capacity at the these crematoria often causes delays of three weeks in being able to book a time for a funeral, and further distress is suffered by families pressurised into limiting the length of funeral services to make way for other funeral parties. The new crematorium will reduce these waiting times, especially during winter months, when the death rate is higher — which was highlighted by local funeral directors as being a particular problem.
Westerleigh Group estimates 70, people in the Wychavon district will, for the first time, have a crematorium they can reach in under half an hour. The majority of councillors welcomed the plans for the new crematorium, however there concerns raised on the impact the crematorium would have on traffic on the A44 and in Fladbury village.
The A44 is a fast moving road and traffic certainly will need to slow down. Crematorium plan is given the go-ahead by planning chiefs. Privacy Notice Slavery Statement.

Dead Bodies Burned to Heat Pools in UK
Following an extensive refurbishment over a 13 week period, the main building at Redditch Crematorium has now reopened. The refurbishment, which took place between 24th July and 20th October, sees a new upgraded chapel with brand new seating and the option to use coloured lighting should service users wish to enhance a colour theme throughout their ceremony.
The toilet facilities in the building have also been completely remodelled to make them modern and fit for purpose. The construction of a new waiting area separate from the main ceremonial facilities now means that where previously there were issues with noise being overheard in the chapel, this should no longer be a problem. High quality acoustic grade interior fittings have also helped create three distinct spaces for waiting, ceremony and post ceremony.
We can now offer our service users modern facilities with more options, at what is a particularly sensitive time, to ensure that the celebration of their loved ones life is exactly as they would want it.
In the U.K., energy from the cremation of dead bodies will be used to heat a Using the wasted heat from the Redditch crematorium alone is.
AN ENERGY saving scheme to power a leisure centre using heat from the crematorium next door has been overwhelmingly backed by councillors. The measure won the support of all three political parties and saw 25 out of 27 councillors in favour, with no one opposed the scheme. Two members abstained. The pioneering scheme can now go ahead. Conservative council leader Carole Gandy said councillors had held meetings and been inundated with emails, letters, tweets, telephone calls and even residents stopping them in the street to give their views.
But the views that matter most to us are those of Redditch residents and those families who visit the crematorium and leisure centre. She said that undertakers and faith group representatives who attended meetings had been supportive and only a handful of resident had express concerns. Labour group leader Bill Hartnett emphasised the green credentials of the project, saying that the cost saving is a secondary concern.

The Co-operative Funeralcare Redditch
A controversial plan to re-use energy generated by a crematorium incinerator to heat a public swimming pool has been given the go-ahead by councillors. When the plans were first announced last month they were attacked by a local funeral directors as ‘strange and eerie’ and ‘a bit sick’. Eerie: Redditch Council has given the go ahead for plans to heat a public swimming pool in by plugging it into a crematorium.
But work on the link between the Worcestershire town’s crematorium and the nearby Abbey Leisure Centre, which is being redeveloped, will now begin in the summer. It will use the heat from the incinerators, which can reach C 1,F , rather than letting it escape into the atmosphere.
Aubrey’s Funeral Service will take place at Redditch Crematorium on Tuesday 10th April at p.m. Family flowers only please, donations if desired for.
